"Why does my system seem sluggish today?"
The answer is easily available with Performance NavigatorTM.
1) Simply select 'Graphs/Current Day/CPU/Job Type'.
This displays the CPU Utilization graph.
At 8:46 am the System + Interactive CPU utilization is very high.
2) Next, 'drill down' to see what was running at that time.
3) Click the 'CPU%' column title to sort that column.
The first job is a batch job that ran for 75 seconds at priority 30.
Since this job ran at a low priority, it is not a problem.
The second job ran at priority 16 for only 2 seconds. It is also
not a problem.
The third job is an interactive job running at priority 20. This job
consumed over 20% of the CPU for 15 minutes. This job definitely
contributed to the 'sluggishness' of the system.
A little further down the list you find user 'JIM' using over 10%
of the system.
With just a few clicks of the mouse you have determined the users
who are causing the system degradation. This diagnosis is possible
from any PC, without Real-Time monitors, and no additional system overhead.
